Join us for a staged reading of the play Hélène’s Dreams, written and directed by Amira-Géhanne Khalfallah, followed by a panel discussion about the politics of translation today. Complimentary Moroccan food will be served.
After a stroke, Hélène suddenly begins speaking another language. Desperate for solutions, her husband hires a translator with the hope that he can communicate with her again. But the translator has other ideas. He subverts her husband’s intentions and plays with words, changing their lives forever.
